Douglas Avenue
VA of Central Iowa anchors this active business and residential corridor
Welcome to the Douglas Avenue Corridor
A well-traveled area in the West Side Chamber is the Douglas Avenue Corridor. Stretching from Merle Hay Mall to the Des Moines River, this area continues to grow to become a vital destination for shopping, dining, recreation, commerce, and more. Douglas Avenue runs east to west though many vibrant neighborhoods including Beaverdale. Thanks to the Douglas Avenue Coalition, a partnership between surrounding neighborhood associations, local businesses, non-profits, residents, and the City of Des Moines, we’re looking forward to seeing all the changes and additions to its already bustling 80+ businesses.
The VA Central Iowa Medical Center is an anchor institution on the Douglas Avenue Corridor. The medical center provides acute and specialized medical and surgical services, residential outpatient treatment programs in substance abuse and post-traumatic stress and a full range of mental health and long-term care services, as well as sub-acute and restorative rehabilitation services and a domiciliary. The VA Medical Center campus has several buildings at the intersection of 30th St., Euclid, and Douglas Avenue. Their address is 3600 30th Street and you can learn more at their website.
